Bachelor Of Commerce In Accounting

The purpose of this qualification is to equip qualifiers with graduate level accounting knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the finance and business sector. It also provides opportunities for continued personal, intellectual growth, economic activity and rewarding contributions to society.
The qualification will produce graduates with the knowledge, skills and competencies required by accounting practitioners who would be employed anywhere in the world. Accounting professionals or practitioners who hold the degree shall be competitive the world over and be able to share their competencies within the global village. Knowledge, skills and competencies attained from the qualification will enable graduates to combine the various accounting skills and they will be proficient at developing accounting policies and apply them in line with the accounting profession.
The qualifying learner will be able to identify opportunities and threats in the accounting environment in order to create a competitive advantage for the business and make decisions regarding the optimization of financial resources.

Entry Requirements
a. Applicants are expected to have successfully completed secondary schooling. The typical entry requirement is NCQF Level 4, e.g. BGCSE or any other equivalent secondary school qualification. Candidates will be required to have achieved a minimum grade of ā€˜D’ in any five subjects, plus passes of minimum grade C in English and Mathematics respectively.
b. Applicants in possession of a Diploma or Higher Diploma in related field may be given exemptions based on the credit point equivalency.
c. Applicants in possession of a certificate (NCQF Level V) in a related field may be given exemptions.
